Almost every day in America there are media reports about the rise in urban and rural violent crime. Many cities reporting the biggest increases in violent crime are the same cities that were politically advocating to “defund the police”. Many have defunded the police and others are now taking steps to reverse that decision. For this paper I want you to pick a city that has pursued “defunding” their police departments.

• What got cut from the PD and how did it impact staffing levels
• How has it impacted the crime rate especially the violent crime rate
• Has there been any effort to restore cuts to police staffing or unit elimination like school resource officers or street crimes units in high crime locations

The paper must include your sources and your individual analysis. You should also include what your recommendation would be if you were an elected representative of the city you chose to analyze.
