Fleet and driver safety | Applied Sciences homework help
There currently is debate over extending the hours of service (HOS) for truck drivers (i.e., to allow them to drive more hours than they currently are allowed to drive). Do you think that the HOS should be extended?ALSO PLEASE REPLY TO ANOTHER STUDENTS COMMENT BELOW

My name is Wayne and I work for an Oil and Gas producer. I live in Katy, Texas and go to our Pennsylvania office often. I have been in the oil and gas industry for 20+ years. I am a Safety & Security Manager and am currently working on my BS in Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental. I am finishing up my BS to help me with future career goals. I am a little over halfway done with my degree plan.
The guidelines I found for the DOT regulation says they can drive 11 hours after they were off 10 consecutive hours. I’m not sure what they are talking about raising the driving hours to, but 11 hours of driving seems like a lot to me. Could they raise it to 12, maybe, people work 12 hour shifts in high hazard areas (plants, manufacturing) so I could see this argument. I would like to see what data they are looking at and see how many hours someone drives before they are more likely to be in an accident.
