DescriptionVarious inequalities and forms of discrimination (based on gender, race, class, age, disability, sexual orientation) have been identified in the workplace. With reference to the contemporary Canadian labour market, discuss processes and practices within workplaces that serve to maintain forms of inequality for a particular group of workers who face discrimination. What types of strategies might be employed to advance equalities in the workplace?
For this assignment you are to submit a paper of approximately 1000-1200 words, exclusive of any endnotes and bibliography. References must be in MLA style with page numbers included.
Your paper must include references to at least 3 sociological works (books, chapters in edited collections, journal articles) outside the course materials. (This is a minimum number of outside references.) Introductory Sociology textbooks and magazine or newspaper articles may be used but they do not count toward the minimum 3 required outside sociological references.
This assignment is worth 20% of your final grade. You are to submit your paper on e-Class by 7 p.m. (1900 hours) on December 2nd. Late papers will be penalized by 1 point per day out of 20.
